About Rocío

Senior UX & UI designer, looking for an in-house product role in wellbeing and mental health

I'm a responsible design and regenerative leadership practitioner, an art therapy-trained facilitator with a Fine Arts degree, specialising in Graphic Design. I've spent over twelve years crafting digital experiences in London.

I believe care is a design decision, and I'm intentionally moving my design practice towards health and wellbeing.

The craft

Growing as a creative, with an entrepreneurial spirit

I shifted from graphic design to user experience design at PHM, where I joined a newly formed in-house team of software engineers, building mobile learning products. At Netro42, I grew into a senior designer, led lead-generation websites, designed booking platforms and insurance quote journeys, and built Pixie, an internal design system library that improved processes and collaboration with developers.

Since my teenage years, I have travelled for my studies and career. I have lived in various cities and moved to London in 2011. Before that, there was a family business: a factory where, as a child, I watched the craft and care my parents gave their employees and the clothing they produced for global brands. I enjoyed drawing fashion sketches, sewing, and running around, and observing the attention to detail and patience that come from a multi-step production process.

Paying it forward

Giving back, alongside work

Draw My Life (2015)

It started at a hackathon with CHAYN, EmpowerHack, and UX for Change, and our team kept going afterwards to design a platform that shares art from children in refugee camps so their voices could be heard.

Design Club (2019)

Mentoring children in design thinking through free workshops in London, at the Science Museum, Kingston University and MozFest 2019. My fellow mentors and the community coordinators gave me the Supermentor badge, and the workshops helped me overcome a fear of public speaking and strengthened my communication and design-thinking practice.

The ArtFlow Project (since 2025)

Mandala drawing reconnected me with my inner artist. What began as a weekend practice with friends is becoming a service I'm designing properly: art therapy-informed creative sessions that make space for wellbeing and self-expression.

Where the paths meet

Responsible design

Responsible Design for Change Fellowship (Sep–Dec 2025)

On the regenerative leadership track, I led three designers through a twelve-week responsible design process for Pillow, a technology and community platform supporting survivors of domestic abuse. It's the closest I've come to the work I want to do next, and it taught me that pace, consent and safety are design decisions, not sentiments.

Direction

How it all connects

I want to go deep on one product and grow into leading a team over the next few years for two reasons: alignment and social impact. I spend my weekends with people managing stress and burnout, and I have observed what changes over time in participants. I want to create meaningful experiences that improve people's wellbeing, bringing my skills in responsible design, regenerative leadership, accessibility, and design systems.

Value

Bravery & Curiosity

I grow as I practice. I spent twelve weeks leading three designers on a subject I had to learn slowly and carefully, being out of my comfort zone.

Value

Adaptability & Pragmatism

I work within real constraints, and look for the change that still moves the outcome.

Value

Humanitarian & Reciprocity

Growth happens in the exchange. Giving my time to communities since 2015 has taught me as much as any job, and made me happier doing it.
